Appassionata Flute and Guitar Duo

After performing in several concerts together, Skender and Joanne officially formed the Appassionata Flute and Guitar Duo in the summer of 2010. This upcoming concert for the WCGS will also serve as their official CD release party.
Skender Sefa
Skender Sefa is a professional classical guitarist with four full length classical guitar CDs on the GFI Masterworks, Uncontrollable Records and Marquis Record Labels. He teaches classical guitar performance and music theory at the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts and is a Director of the Winnipeg Music Festival and the President of the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society. In recognition of his career in classical guitar performance, Skender has received awards from both the Canada Council for the Arts and the Manitoba Arts Council. In addition to performing, teaching and recording, Skender is an active music adjudicator/clinician.
Joanne Keeler
Joanne Keeler has been performing on her flute for the past 26 years and teaching it for the past 18. She is a graduate of the University of Manitoba School of Music (BMus Perf), having studied with Albert Horch, Jan Kocman and Laurel Ridd. In and around Winnipeg, Joanne is in demand as a flute/piccolo instructor and clinician for numerous junior and senior high band programs as well as summer band camps. Many of her students have gone on to pursue music as their career both as performers and educators. She takes pride in her studio being a place to make wonderful music at every level and create lasting friendships. She resides in Westwood with her husband and daughter.
