Michael Daher

Michael Daher is a well known local classical guitarist and member of the Manitoba Classical Guitar Duo. Michael regularly performs both as a soloist and in ensemble including performances with the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society, the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra and the Manitoba Opera Association. Michael has performed in Masterclasses with world renown artists including Leo Brouwer, and Christopher Parkening. Recent highlights include adjudicating the classical guitar portion of the Brandon Music Festival and performing as a featured performer at the annual guitar festival headed by virtuoso guitarist Christopher Parkening in Montana. Michael owns Goodfellas Productions where he engineers and produces CD's ranging from rock to classical genres. Michael is also the president of GFI Masterworks, a classical music label responsible for the productions of many Winnipeg artists' albums. Michael teaches classical guitar performance and music theory at the University of Manitoba School of Music through the Preparatory Division and at the Manitoba Conservatory of Music and Arts. Michael is a past president of the Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society, and is currently a member of the WCGS Executive Board. The Manitoba Classical Guitar Duo's first full length CD recording will be released in June of 2008 on the GFI Masterworks label. Michael is also a featured performer on a soon to be released new CD titled Sefarad which will be released in 2008 on the Marquis Record Label and consists of chamber music written by Winnipeg composer Sid Robinovitch and performed by several well known artists from Winnipeg.
