At age four, Pia began to play the violin and took up the guitar when she was nine. She attended the prestigious East German Spezial School of Music and, also became a member of the famous Radio Youth Choir and the. Chamber Choir Wernigerode. She graduated from Hochschule für Musik in Berlin and the Hochschule für Musik Franz Liszt Weimar. She was also a member of the Vocal Consort Weimar that won important international prizes. Pia has attended the Master Classes of such guitarists as Roberto Aussel, David Russell, Duo Sonare, Hopkinson Smith and Benjamin Verdery. She was a prize winner at the International Competition for Classical Guitar in Krakow, Poland in 1994. She has appeared as a soloist and chamber musician in recordings, radio programs and TV shows in Germany and abroad.
