The Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society (WCGS) works with the arts and education community of Manitoba to promote the art and practice of classical guitar. We support established and emerging performers from local educational institutions such as the University of Manitoba, Brandon University, and Canadian Mennonite University.
On an annual basis our organization sponsors scholarship programs (in conjunction with the Winnipeg Music Festival), arranges master class programs for students, and coordinates various outreach performances by visiting international artists in Winnipeg public schools. The society has also collaborated with the Manitoba Classroom Guitar Association to provide complimentary concert experiences for Manitoba students.
Outreach classical guitar education is a vital part of the WCGS mandate and we are firmly committed to collaborating with other arts and/or educational organizations to provide rich and diverse learning opportunities, and artistic experiences in Winnipeg.
