Nenad Zdjelar completed his studies Contrabass (Double Bass) Performance from the Faculty of Fine Arts and Music in Novi Sad, Yugoslavia. As a student, he was a member of the Academy Symphony Orchestra and between the years 1991 and 1998, Nenad was a member of the Orchestra of the National Theatre of Yugoslavia in the Belgrade Opera House. However, in parallel with his classical career, Nenad was always active in other various genres of music. When he came to Canada, Nenad continued his musical career, collaborating with Canadian musicians and orchestras, and appeared in numerous recordings including the Stony Plain production. Among other pursuits, Nenad has performed with the Winnipeg Symphony Orchestra, the Okanagan Symphony Orchestra, in Broadway musicals, at the Montreal Jazz Festival and numerous other festivals across the country. As a member of Paris to Kyiv ensemble, he toured Europe and the United States representing Canadian music. Nenad's eclectic performances range in classical, jazz, & blues; this ethno-classical world music gives you a taste of his very own style of playing Contrabass. His trio CD recording Pearls and Yarn was released by American record Label Summit Records and he also is a featured performer on a soon to be released chamber music CD titled Sefarad on the Marquis Records Label which features music by renown local composer Sid Robinovitch. In 2009, his Synergy Duo will release their first CD on the GFI Masterworks label.
