The Winnipeg Classical Guitar Society is pleased to welcome Jérôme Ducharme for the first concert of our 2022/23 season.

Jérôme is the winner of the 2005 Guitar Foundation of America, third prize winner at the 2004 GFA competition and the winner of the "prize of the public" at the 2004 Guitare-Anthony International Competition in France. Bio below.

Jérôme Ducharme's concert is on a Friday evening and not our usual Saturday night. This concert will be held Friday January 20th 8pm, Precious Blood Church, 200 Kenny Street.  Please join us!


Bio

After winning the 2005 edition of the Guitar Foundation of America International Competition, Jérôme Ducharme began his touring carreer giving over 40 recitals and masterclasses across North America as part of the winner’s tour. In addition, Jérôme Ducharme won several prizes in international competitions: First prize at the 2003 Montréal International Competition, Third prize at the 2004 GFA competition and Third prize plus the prize of the public at the 2004 Guitare-Anthony International Competition in France. Mr. Ducharme performs and adjucates regularly for guitar societies, universities and festivals.

Mr. Ducharme holds a diploma from the Conservatoire de musique et d’art dramatique de Montréal and a doctorate degree from Université de Montréal. In 2003-2004, he spent a year studying under the guidance of Oscar Ghiglia and Stephan Schmidt in Switzerland.

Jerome Ducharme is currently a classical guitar instructor at the Schulish School of Music of McGill University in Montréal. Mr. Ducharme recorded a cd on Naxos label, praised by critics.

Mr. Ducharme plays on a 2009 Daryl Perry guitar.
